Antenna Site General Information
The Estrella site is the tallest communication facility in central Arizona. Located eleven miles west of South Mountain, this fully self-sustained, off-grid power system has been in service for more than 40 years and features a UHF master receive system and three towers: a 20' self-supporting, 40' guyed and 80' self-supporting. The site also includes an emergency generator and a cinder block/steel shelter which houses a 48 VDC battery power plant, 12 VDC battery power plant, redundant 120 VAC inverters and 8' tall x 19" wide equipment racks. The facility is secured with a central-station-monitored alarm, multi-camera surveillance, and power and environmental monitoring. This site is only accessible by helicopter.
